Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has ceased to be the richest man in the world, having lost his leadership in the ranking of the richest people. Corresponding changes appeared in the Forbes Real-Time list, which is updated in real time.
At the moment, Bezos’ fortune is estimated at $192.4 billion: it decreased by 6.76 percent or $13.9 billion in a day. The owner of Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH) Bernard Arnault has become the leader of the ranking of the richest people in the world. According to Forbes, his fortune reaches 192.9 billion dollars.
The third place on the list is occupied by the head of SpaceX, Tesla CEO Elon Musk. During the day, his fortune increased by 2.2 billion dollars and reached 179.4 billion dollars.
Bezos’ fortune has dwindled due to the fall in Amazon stock. They fell by 7.56 percent to $3.3 thousand per share after the company submitted reports for the second quarter of 2021. It turned out that Amazon for the first time in the last three years did not realize analysts’ forecasts for revenue growth.
Previously, Amazon received a record fine in Europe for violations in the processing of personal data of users. Claims are caused by displaying relevant advertising to the company’s customers. It is assumed that Amazon could be punished in the amount of up to 20 million euros.

American entrepreneur, investor, innovator. Jeffrey Preston Bezos was born on January 12, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The boy attended elementary school in Houston. He spent the summers on the ranch, doing various agricultural work under the supervision of his grandfather. At graduation, Bezos noted that his grandfather had a great influence on him and taught him that “it’s harder to be kind than smart.”
Bezos started his first business at school. It was called The Dream Institute and was an educational summer camp for middle school students. When Jeff’s family moved to Florida, he was transferred to one of the schools in Miami, where he realized his love for computers. Bezos was even invited to participate in the undergraduate research program at the University of Florida, where in 1982 he received the Silver Knight Award and became a National Merit Scholar. The young man graduated with honors from high school, which secured him a place at Princeton University. At a prestigious university, he planned to study physics, but soon decided to return to computers. He ended up graduating with two Bachelor of Science degrees in computer science and electrical engineering.
After graduating from university, Bezos, confident in his knowledge, went to Wall Street. He worked for several firms. First in sales at Fitel, then in finance at Bankers Trust. Until 1994, he worked with D. E. Shaw & Co, an investment company that specialized in the application of computer science to the stock market. There, Jeff Bezos rose to the position of vice president of the company. At that time, he was ripe for his own startup. Bezos decided to open an online bookstore in Seattle. He decided that Seattle would be the perfect location for his new business because of the sheer amount of high-tech talent. The businessman managed to meet $300,000 to set up a business in the garage of his home in Seattle. For a long time he could not decide on the name of his company.
In the end, Bezos settled on Amazon. He liked the consonance between one of the longest rivers on the planet and the largest bookstore. Soon, the company, which began as an online bookstore, expanded its range from selling products to services and technology and carried out its activities throughout America. Bezos managed his brainchild competently and introduced a number of innovations that other entrepreneurs began to use. Amazon has been incredibly successful in making its founder a billionaire. In September 2000, Bezos founded Blue Origin, a manned spaceflight startup, then purchased The Washington Post. The investor declared his interest in reducing the cost of space travel for ordinary people. The entrepreneur fulfilled his childhood dream and went into space on his own New Shepard spacecraft on July 20, 2021. The flight earned several world records.
